Mintier Harnish managed a multidisciplinary team to prepare the Merced County General Plan Update. This was a comprehensive update of the General Plan and Housing Element. Key issues in the update include: preserving agriculture and open space; minimum agricultural land parcel size; meeting unincorporated community needs; enhancing the local economy and jobs; collaborating with cities; and addressing water supply, air quality, climate change, and complete streets. We prepared the Vision and Guiding Principles, the Background Report, an Issues and Opportunities Report, an Alternatives Report, the Policy Document, and Program EIR. Public participation in the Update included four newsletters, a project website, 24 Focus Group meetings, 45 Community Workshops, 10 Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission Study Sessions, and 2 public hearings.
