Mintier Harnish prepared the 2010 Housing Element for Merced County as part of the County General Plan Update. The 2010 Housing Element contains several new policies and programs to encourage the development of affordable housing in the county and to help stabilize the housing market by responding to the foreclosure crisis that hit Merced County and the rest of the Central Valley starting in 2008. In addition to two stakeholder workshops held during the Housing Element update process, the County conducted two focus group meetings with stakeholders from the Hmong and Latino communities to discuss major issues and opportunities facing the county. Feedback and input from the workshops and focus group meetings was used to shape the draft Housing Element policies and programs. Mintier Harnish prepared a minor update to the Housing Element for the 2016-2024 planning period.
