Mintier Harnish is currently leading the Markham Callen Neighborhood Plan. The Markham Callen planning area is composed of two distinct neighborhoods, the Markeham Avenue neighborhood and the Callen Street neighborhood, and includes a commercial corridor along East Monte Vista Avenue. The area includes concentrations Spanish-speaking residents, affordable housing units, mobile home parks, and multifamily apartments, as well as a neighborhood park, community garden, and pedestrian trail. The Neighborhood Plan establishes a community vision, guides decision-making through unique goals and policies for the area, and recommends actions the City can take to improve the built environment, advance economic deveopment objectives, and engage the community. Planning efforts were informed by considerable community engagement efforts, including stakeholder interviews, workshops, pop-up events, community group meetings, a neighborhood cleanup event, yard signs and promotional materials and more.
